Undulata

Furniture

Project Image

Made from multiple layers of precision-cut MDF (medium-density fiberboard), the table follows a dynamic wavy form, creating an undulating surface that offers both structural integrity and visual intrigue. Each layer is meticulously spaced to provide a sense of porosity, allowing light to interact with the piece in a way that creates playful shadows and depth, while still ensuring the table's strength and functionality.

This design moves away from the traditional sofa table structure, opting instead for an organic, sculptural approach. The wave-like layers suggest a sense of fluidity and motion, as if the table is flowing within the space. The transparent glass top serves as a minimalist surface that subtly emphasizes the intricate, layered base without detracting from it.

The open, porous structure of Undulata allows for unobstructed views through the table, making it feel lighter and less intrusive within a room. Its geometric repetition and natural curves complement modern, minimalist interiors, acting not only as a functional piece of furniture but also as a work of art.

Undulata is derived from the Latin word undulatus, which means wavy or having a wave-like form. It describes something that has smooth, flowing, or curved lines, much like waves in water. With dimensions of 120 x 90 cm and a height of 36 cm, Undulata strikes the perfect balance between functionality and artistry. Composed of 28 unique CNC-cut MDF pieces, each layer contributes to the table’s fluid, wave-like form, creating a harmonious blend of precision and organic design. The careful arrangement of these layers showcases the beauty of craftsmanship and technology, resulting in a table that is as structurally sound as it is visually captivating.
